{visit with Stake President}

Monday, January 31, 2011

I was visiting with the stake president yesterday at church
& cried like a big ole' baby.
He asked what year my husband was in for medical school.
1st or 2nd? he asked.
4th I said.
He asked if I had liked it here.
& then came the water works.
President C. asked what I liked about the ward so much. Thats easy. I love how warm, welcoming & inclusive the locals are. They are eager to invite you to their home & feed you something delicious like chicken rolls or chocolate gravy & biscuits. I love how supportive & loving the medical wives are. Those girls always have their eyes open & are quick to respond when it looks like one of us is struggeling with the process of having a husband in school. I love how humble this ward is. Family & neighbors before wealth & riches. There is not one person in our ward that I have not seen give acts of service & show unconditional love to someone. I am honored that I have been able to rub elbows with the wonderful people in this area. Leaving is going to hurt. a lot. 4 more months. Im just going to have to soak it up!
I left the visit to return to sunday school. still feeling weepy.

When T was just a little dude, maybe 11 months or so We were looking at medical schools in preperation for applications. We were going through the usual bedtime rutine when I was hit hard with an impression that we should apply to a school in eastern Tennessee. Strange. I shared my thoughts with Rod. We looked & their was only one school there at the time. ETU. & they were very partial to TN residents. weeks later we found out about LMU. & so we came. It wasnt much of a decision.
We did not understand at the time why Tennessee. We knew we would eventually.
We do know now. We needed love & support here. & I cannot imagine a move loving group of people to share the ups & downs of medical school with. I am grateful.

ok. enough sap.

I do love these people though.
anyhow...

{Weekend in pictures}

We started the cry it out method the other night with Presley.
It took her 15 minuets & she had it figured out.
It nearly killed me.
She goes down to bed & nap without a 40 minuete bounce & lullabye-athon now.
She is a dream baby. Easy to read, happy & sweet.

I love that my boys wanted to wear skelleton jammies to bed all while singing jingle bells.
Happy Holidays!

Saturday mornings are linen mornings.
Thrilling I know!
Im starting to see that sheetless beds are an open invitation for jumping & wrestling.
It makes for a crazy hour or two.
I usually do not watch.
When I do watch Im nervous & interfere with boys being boys.
I have found its just better to look away & let them do their thing...
with a hope & a prayer that no one looses teeth...again.
Watching the boys play together melts me everytime!

************

Sunday we had our friends the Ballards over.
The ballards have 3 girls & another one just weeks away from arriving. When we invited them for dinner I had it in my head that the sweet & dainty Ballard girls pretty much would want nothing to do with the loud & crazy Sclater boys. I am glad to say I was wrong. They played together great. Sammy helped the kids put on a performance. They dressed like cow folk & danced to boot scootin boogy. Hillarious. We really enjoyed our evening.

but wait..there is more...

before the Ballard family left, Dave Ballard was teasing our 2 little boys about heads in toilets...well I guess Britt took it to heart. the kid went & dunked him self. head first. GROSSNESS! But ill tell you...its one of the funniest moments I have had as a mom yet. His face was priceless. & then Rod shampooed the kid.

Happy Monday!
