{Fiesta like theres no mañana}

Monday, April 28, 2014

Here in Texas Fiesta is weeks of celebrations & fundraising, parades & festivals. The kids get out of school for a day in celebration of Fiesta. I have been told it draws more people to our city then Mardi Gras brings to New Orleans. Crazy! The weekend ended up being a 4 day weekend rather than 3 because of threats made to our district elementary schools.  There was so much hoopla about it before the actual day something was supposed to happen that by Thursday morning my boys were terrified to go to school. I knew many other moms were going to just keep there kids home just in case so I figured...what the heck!  but back to fiesta...just like years past we had a fun fiesta pot luck in the circle with neighbors. It was a lot of fun & we had lots to eat! The children put on their rendition of Frozen, the littlest M played Ana & man alive that girl can sing! & J was hilarious, he played Grandpappy (one of the trolls) & he really got into character.   The block kids have a new love for skateboards & photo bombing. Cute cute babies...all of them!  The guys snuck away early in the night to finish watching the game. No surprise there. The night ended with a certain neighbor nearly killing himself on 2 scooters. His poor wife! I say it every time...but...I love these people!

 I am completely on an adrenaline rush from T's game. He killed it! The boy can run & switch up plays. He is incredible. for the past 2 years T has been on a lacrosse team. He goes to practice 2 times a week & is a leader there, helping the coach staff (one of which is his own Dad. best looking coach around if you ask me.) But games are on Sundays. We prayed about it as a family & told Tre why we think he should not play on Sundays, but ultimately gave him the choice so he could exercise his own free agency. He chose not to play the games on Sunday. A few weeks ago there was a rained out game...which means a makeup game... & on a week day! I have been looking forward to this probably more than T has been. We packed our bug spray & folding chairs & we all headed out to the city for the game.  With in the first few seconds of the game it was obvious that Tre was going to give us a good show! We had a great time watching Rod coach & Tre make plays & assists through the whole game. One time he just dropped the ball in a team mates stick...it was so unexpected that all the kids on both teams paused & looked baffled by it. It was pretty funny. The boys monkeyed around on the bleachers & Presley lost interest & started to play some iPad games. Cooper was just ticked to not be in bed, but I really wanted us all to be there for the big game. Rod & I have not stopped talking about what a great team player our biggest is. He could have taken it to the goal way more times than he did, but like the leader he is...he passed & gave his team mates the opportunity to score too. I think ill keep this boy. He is pretty special!
GO GREEN!
