{kids being kids}

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Tonight Tre had his first ever Blue & Gold Banquette.
& I missed it.
It started 3o minutes past bedtime for the littler kids.
& that is a recipe for disaster!
So before Tre hitched a ride from some great friends I thought
Id snap a few pictures of him in uniform.
(who doesn't love a man in uniform?!)
The other children must have thought this was the perfect evening for a family shoot
because they were everywhere.
& the best part they were all in jammies
that they had picked out.
some shirts too big,
some shorts too small,
nothing matching.
But I kind-a like pictures where the kids look like kids.
I bet those will be the pictures we laugh at & enjoy the most when they are full grown.

Rod & T should be home any minute with fun stories to tell
& so I say goodnight.

{a year ago}

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

I stumbled upon some pictures of our sweet girl from a year ago.
she has changed & grown so much.
She is much funnier, sassier, tender hearted & loud then we would have ever guessed a year ago.

I find it fun to go through old files & see what pictures I did not use or edit. I had not given these 2 much thought until today. Now I treasure that oversized diaper & that hand on hip walk. All those grey haired ladies at the grocery store are right...it goes fast.

phew!
I love valentines day, but it sure kept me busy this year!
I was never a huge fan of this holiday until on a rainy day my 3 year old 1st born came tripping out of the school building with a box of love notes, erasers, stickers & lollipops. He was glowing. I could tell he felt extra special. & any holiday that does that for my crew is all right by me!
we...
 1) Did  our annual feb. 14th service project. This year my wee artists made valentines for nursing home residents. They loved dropping them off! & I love teaching them that the world does not in fact revolve around them..even if I make it seem that way at home most of the time:)
2)Monday night before VDay we Heart attacked each others doors with pictures and kind words. Kindness is a big deal in these parts as of late! we say "speak kindly & calmly" about a gazillion times a day. We are starting to make progress in that area. Baby steps. Baby steps.
3) We had our Valentines Day breakfast complete with heart shaped pancakes, love notes, treats, & a trail of hearts from their bedroom doors.
4) as always we had our boys be gentleman and pick their favorite gal pal to give flowers to. they rang doorbells, said happy valentines day & smiled. I love this tradition. i think it is a hoot & builds confidence as well as respect for women.
5) School festivities! We made valentine boxes to look like a lego (no surprise there!) & an iPad. The boxes left the house empty & were returned filled with hearts & thoughtful notes.
6) Dr love himself had off for the day & gave me a nap! A NAP!!!  best day EVER! (sorry no pictures of said nap.)

#1: service project--

delivering the valentines....

                                        our smallest of valentines!

#2 heart attacks--

#3 love day breakfast--

#4 flower delivery boys--

okay this next picture kills me!  Miss E. is a full head taller than Britt. My poor little guy.
& of course our beautiful & sweet sweet neighbor Miss A & Tre. If I have it my way those two will fall in love someday! She is a gem.

Miss R & Maddox were a riot too. Its like she expected him. The door opened he held them out. she took them and they each bolted in opposite directions. Hilarious! cute little buddies.

#5 school festivities--

{vacation week}

Thursday, February 07, 2013

This week Rod has been home.
But to call it a vacation week would be a lie.
He has had to replace our dryer, study, & even volunteered to be "watch dog" (dads of great students.)
He has not stopped.
& has not been able to accomplish much of what he had on his list.
he is discouraged by this...
I wish he could see all he has accomplished.
special time with each child, playing, hugging, helping.

He works.
He prays over us.
He gives all to us.
He loves us.

this video is worth a watch!
My heart is full!
(turn off my music 1st friends!)

{walk}

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Saturday evening we went for a walk.
played at the park.
soaked each other in.

{dirty nose}

Saturday, February 02, 2013

Presley more often than not has a dirty nose.
This is because she holds her sippy cup spout to her nose
aaalllll day long!
& even at night
when I tip toe into her room to make sure she is still dressed (she prefers her birthday suit)
Ill peek in & there is that sippy cup on her nose with chooch in mouth.
Its one of those quircky things I never want to forget about our little girl.
